This report presents findings a study of the patterns, associations, and costs of criminal justice involvement among adults with schizophrenia and bipolar disorder in the state of Florida. State Medicaid, Department of Children & Families (DCF), and Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) records were matched and merged to identify a population of 4,056 adults with schizophrenia or bipolar disorder with an index hospitalization between July 2004 and June 2005; patterns of arrest for this identified population were then examined over a period of 77 post-index hospitalization months.
